Alma first opened its doors on the island of Siargao, Philippines in 2020. Established during the pandemic, a time when most restaurants closed, Alma came alive amongst the community of Siargao. Tucked away in a quite neighborhood where most would not expect to find a restaurant, the spirit of Alma was created overlooking the fishermen’s boats.
Alma is a space where Spanish flavour and flair interweave with Siargao’s local produce and laid back beach vibes. So whether you’re dining in Makati or in Siargao, Alma is your little Spanish getaway from the hustle and bustle.

Chef Luis’ love for cooking started in his parent’s kitchen in Valencia. His entrepreneurial spirit was lit at a young age, encouraged by his father to sell paella in his neighborhood at 13 years old. The first version of the Alma we know today was opened together with his brother in Spain, showcasing their familial love for Spanish cuisine.

After a holiday in Siargao, it was time for his next adventure. Chef Luis opened Alma on the island, bringing authentic Spanish food to Siargao and creating a loyal following of admirers. Managing to keep Alma open and thriving to the local community during the pandemic, it sadly had to close it’s doors after the devastating typhoon Odette.
Terraza Martinez opened in September 2022, marking the start of Chef Luis' journey in Manila. He stays true to his love for Mediterranean-Spanish cuisine, bringing an elevated dining experience, combined with more refined cooking techniques.
In a full circle moment, Alma is once again opening its doors in Siargao and Chef Luis is bringing his tried-and-tested recipes to Poblacion, Makati as well, having the best of both worlds.
